The Living and the Dead

Put Out to Pasture

  • The Java 4k Game Launcher.
  • Java 4k Games. The Java 4k game contests are over.
  • Web Video Snip – took too much time to support with an ever-changing behavior from the YouTube flash application. That, and now some of the JavaScript used just doesn’t work anymore. The full-on website was here.
  • Antlion – an Ant build tool plugin that was intended to be a nice 3rd party management and large project handler. However, Ivy took off and made this project obsolete.
  • GroboUtils – a collection of various Java projects, housed under one confused roof.
    • Probably best “known” for the code coverage tool that became obsolete with JDK 1.5 due to the use of the underlying class bytecode library. Updating the tool would have required a major rewrite, and the availability of other coverage tools at the time lessened the need for me to continue this project.
    • Home of the JUnit extensions, referenced by the Dr. Dobbs article. This hasn’t been updated to reflect the new-style test classes introduced in JUnit 4.
    • There were a bunch of other utility classes that became obsolete by later versions of the JDK, that included similar behavior in new classes.
    • I now use it to as a backup for the source code to some of my experimental, personal projects.
  • Inform Wares – a collection of Inform (z-machine, ala Zork) language tools and packages I’ve written over the years. It was intended to be a warehouse for all the different inform source that other people have written, but it ended up that I wasn’t very good at getting people to use it.

Reading List
